We have two conflicting stories. I was out there last year for one of the races and I can tell you riders were all over the road, both for the race and warming up. One woman was in the middle of the lane warming up a good mile or so before we got to the parking area. I remember the pre-race posts specifically asking riders not to do that.

Nobody deserves to be threatened, injured or killed, but if we as cyclists don't take responsibility for riding properly we can't expect the rest of the general public to respect our demands to be treated fairly. All we can ask is that drivers maybe give us a little more respect than the people out there riding the wrong way down one way streets on Dewey (DUII) bikes. We are supposed to be the ones setting the good example.

Anyone have the Original Craigs List post? I was just talking to my wife about this, she's a reporter for KATU and was interested in looking into this. Any of those involved willing to share some details, drop me a line and I'll forward it on to her.

Thanks

Before you/we go and make a big issue out of this, let us remember that the driver could have done a lot more damage than he did...including suggesting others do the same, a la some local radio personalities who have done in the past.
