We spent the day tear out loose concrete getting ready to patch and then it started to rain so we couldn't put out patches. Some of the holes are quite large and deep so be careful if you try to ride. If it is not raining I will try to put patches down tomorrow starting at noon. If it is raining I will try again on Friday and then Saturday after 3:00 PM. If anyone wants to help I would really appreciate it. I will post updates to the Twitter account, @AlpenroseVelo.

I was at the Alpenrose website the other day, and they have a
"cowments" form you can submit. I sent them a few words of thanks and
praise, and they emailed back saying it was very much appreciated.

It is rare that I drive out to the track and don’t think “wow”. Especially when you see everything the company does to maintain the site, particularly after the cyclocross race.
I don’t know why they do it, but I appreciate it!
My hand gesture: Two Big Thumbs Up!

Hi,
Candi and Mike put on one of the best cycling events of the year in the
Alpenrose Velodrome Challenge. The AVC is not just a race but an event.
With good food, music, great competition, and exciting races, it provides an
opportunity to bring your friends and family to a bike race where you
actually watch the entire race. I have invited my friends to come and watch
and they have really enjoyed the atmosphere and the racing. The best way
to support this event, if you are not racing, is to pack the stands and
cheer on some of the best track riders in the nation.
Friday
Saturday
Sunday
Racing starts at 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM each day.
See you at Alpenrose this weekend!
Nathan

On Friday there is racing that almost anyone could do. We will be doing
pursuits in the morning and kilos/500 meter time trials in the evening
session. Don't be intimidated if you want to come out and do one of these.
The qualifier points race is for riders who are not Cat 1s on the track to
see if they can make it into the 'bigs' and race the mass start events at
the avc. It is a good way to make some of the cash as rather large cash
goes to the top 5.
Remember on Saturday/Sunday Pizacatto will be cooking up yummy food and Dave
Guettler's band will be playing during half time. Team Sales will be there
with their screaming deals on bike clothing. You can bring your under 10
year olds to do the Kiddie Kilo at 4:00. Racing begins at 10 and 4 all 3
days.
There will be a huge quarter midget car race at Alpenrose this weekend, 9/27
& 28. They will start arriving tomorrow. The Dairy has asked me to inform
people and to ask people to not use the velodrome until the following
Monday. The last Thursday of racing will happen tonight as scheduled.

I want to thank the people that showed up for day 2 cleanup session. This
was not scheduled until yesterday when rain and hail forced us to quit
before we got done. Although it might be nice to have a facility that
didn't require so much maintenance it is pretty gratifying to see people
turn out to help.
The velodrome is now all cleaned up and painted. The infield is still
pretty soggy but a few dry, sunny days will help that. Other than that we
are pretty much ready for an active season.
Lockers a filling up fast. If you are interested in getting one you need to
get down to the track soon. There were some lockers that were not rented
but that had locks on them or stuff in them. The locks are now cut off and
the stuff has been cleared out. If you think some of it might belong to you
get in touch with me soon. Otherwise I will be putting it up for sale or
otherwise disposing of it.
This coming Thursday will be the first session with regular mass start bike
races. There is nightly prize money for the Cat 1/2 field omnium this year.
Also this year the Madison will be included in the omnium scoring.
The next big event is the Six Day, June 23-28. Look for a flyer to be
coming out pretty soon. In preparation for the Six Day it would be great to
have some Madison practice sessions. Let me know if you are interested and
we will try to schedule some times.
Mike Murray
Just a reminder that we will be hosting a few hours of track clean up
tomorrow from 10-? and could use all the help we can get.
