A modest proposal......

I've lived here since '76 and I've never heard of "My Oregon".
How does it go? Can you dance to it? How does a true Oregonian live? Is an economy size can of WD40 required? Do I have to have a bike with permanently mounted fenders with a half water bottle riveted to the bottom? Am I exempt if I don't have neoprene booties? Will I be disqualified if I have an umbrella?

I think Non-Oregonians should only be able to win championships only if:

* They race at least 10 Oregon races a year, for 5 years

* They can recite 'My Oregon' from memory

* They tape an Oregon Grape sprig on their jersey for all races

* They submit to suprise inspections in their homes to establish
that they are living like true Oregonians.

Furthermore, I think all non-Oregonians should have to wear large letters
designating their states on their jerseys, so we can identify them
in races. Southern Oregonians are really more like Californians,
so they have to wear a big 'C' on their jerseys too. And really,
how sporting is it to just waltz across the Cascades, seize a
medal that you don't really deserve and leave? The Cascades
are an obvious natural boundary. So Bend people should have to
wear the Idaho 'I'. Especially those sandbagger ex-pro people.
This way we can identify the buggers, when they try to claim
prizes that they're not entitled to.

Finally, a bit of wisdom!!! and, as for championship jerseys... just pick the ghastly school colors of OSU or UofO. Between the yellow and/or orange you should be able to come up with something that's high vis and has some connection with the state.

What about square wheels, should not these people (if
you can call them people) use square wheels?
