Mt. Hood Cycling Classic
Hello Women of OBRA,
Just a reminder that the 2007 Mt. Hood Cycling Classic is just around
the corner. One of only a few opportunities for stage racing in 2007
this year's event offers up an even better mix of venues and courses
than ever before. Starting off with one of the most spectacular time
trials in the U.S., the Columbia River Gorge Scenic Time Trial takes
competitors from The Dalles to Hood River via the Old Scenic Highway.
Amazing vistas and roads with grades never exceeding 5% this course will
be one to remember. Since this is a point to point time trial a free
shuttle service will be provided for those who need it from Hood River
back to The Dalles. Stage 2 will take competitors up into the Mt. Hood
National Forest. Starting at Cooper Spur Mountain resort, riders will
first descend down into the rich farmland of the Hood River Valley
before turning south and heading back up into the mountains. The race
is a challenging 40 mile course that ends on the eastern flanks of Mt.
Hood at Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Resort. Again shuttle service will be
provided back to Cooper Spur for those riders needing transportation.
Stage 3 consists of a fast and exciting criterium through the streets of
downtown Hood River. Thousands of fans will gather on this amazing
course to watch riders sprinting for cash primes and overall victory.
The final awards presentation for the 3-4 women will conclude 45 minutes
after the finish of the criterium at the Mt. Hood Cycling Classic Event
Expo across from Full Sail Brewing Company. In addition to the race we
have tons of giveaways, swag, and post race lunch and beverage all
included in your registration fee. The Mt. Hood Cycling Classic is also
offering women's cut T-shirts this year. No longer do you have to
tolerate another loose fitting unisex or men's shirt.
We have a huge passion to grow the sport of cycling for women and hope
that you will join us in 2007 for another great event. Feel free to
contact us with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Chad Sperry
