Kids Rule Tuesdays at PIR!!!

I am going to qualify my comments, since the flyer doesn't describe much about how the race will operate. However, I would have to second the point of view of John on this if kids are going to be out on the track when any of the cat races are going on. That would seem to be a recipe for disaster given John's accurate assessment of the races. When I read the flyer I assumed that the kids would be "racing" on an off course area like the warm up loop? That must be where it will be, since it would be pretty difficult for many kids to make laps around the 2 mile course.

This event will not be done in the infield.

That might not be a good idea either as I have atually witnessed crashes on
the infield warm up lot!

Some riders are even aggressive in their warm ups. :P

They probably thought that through, or at least I hope so.

I could just see my 5 year old riding her princess bike, spotting a
pretty flower half way around and dismounting to go get it. In her
flower induced frenzy, she forgets her bike as it rolls sideways across
the track, directly into an incoming field of racers. Unphased, she
eventually puts the flower in her basket and decides to ride back the
way she came to go show dad what she found...directly into another pack
of racers.

No, this can't be. I reckon they'll race on the infield or something.

I tried to email Neil to ask--email bounced. I assume we're talking "laps"
of the warmup area,
as even one lap of the main PIR course is a lot to ask of 4-5 year olds.

I hate to be the one to ask this question, but is this really a good idea?

If I am reading this right, we will have kids, 3/4, and 1/2/3 on the
track at the same time. We have already had tons of crashes and a lot
of problems with overtaking ane neutralizing this year. The racing at
PIR tends to be very aggressive and I have seen people take risks and
become very intense. I am not sure this is the best time for kids to
be on the track.

Does anyone else share this same concern?
