CITY SUPPORTS NATIONAL BIKE MONTH

May is National Bike Month, and the City of Vancouver has numerous
projects in progress endorsing this special month. Since Vancouver was
designated a bicycle friendly community by the League of American
Bicyclists since the fall of 2005, the City has added close to 10 miles
of new bicycle lanes to its transportation system. This is an increase
of over 16 percent in just a year and a half.
During the next month, Bicycle Friendly Community signs will be
installed throughout the City to celebrate the award designation.
The City will also be installing another round of bicycle racks in the
downtown area at 20 different locations.
For the first time ever, Transportation Services will also produce a
City of Vancouver bicycle map featuring bicycle facilities, routes and
trails. The new map will be free and available in June of 2007.
