Re: Senior Women's fields

I'm with Martha on this - in the long term, limiting women's racing options seems like a bad idea. I've always been a vocal advocate for making senior women's racing more of a main event (having women race right before senior men at ccx, tabor, crits and in the same wave at road races) and maybe someday it will make sense to give the women a rehearsal AND a state RR or to bring back the downtown crit for women?? I'm one of those people that watched the women race downtown and thought maybe i should try bike racing . . . but i guess this is a chicken and egg type discussion.

In the short term, I think it would be better to combine the women and score seperately than to cancel whole fields - I also started out like martha (racing 1-4s together). I got dropped a lot, but the fields were big enough that i usually had some company to help me get back on . . .

I think the goal is to bring up the caliber of racing AND the numbers in the women's fields. it won't do us much good if our OBRA categories aren't equivalent to the USCF categories in the states around us . . . .
