Beginner to Sport Upgrade - ALL comments welcome!

Will,
If you asking when you can upgrade, then the answer is really that you can do it whenever you want. I think most people don't wait until they get 3 top 3's or whatever the mandatory rule is. Some people skip Beginner completely but its really just whatever you are comfortable with. There is a fair bit of overlap in skill/condition among the levels.

If you are asking when you must upgrade, then see below.

Will,

Well, we will upgrade someone if they are placing consistently but
the class size may be only 10 or so but if its over 15 people than I
say yes and three top three's or 5 top 5's would warrant an upgrade.
Discipline is a slippery word and you and everyone should know when
they should upgrade. There are a few people on the watch list and
some of you may know who these beginner or sport riders are who
always place and never move up year to year or only race so many
races as not to get upgraded. Its not too many of you but I will be
upgrading some of you post Oakridge. Its nice to be competitive but
not moving up to expert or sport and improving and letting others
have a chance at some podiums that are new should be the norm and
forcing upgrades should be our last option.

Don't know about norba, we use OBRA at our races.
If you are a strong rider and have done well at races
move up, if you haven't broke the top 10 stay as
beginner rest of the year and move up next year. Just
my 2 cents.

What are everyone's opinions/criteria/ideas/suggestions for moving from Beg to Sport? NORBA says that you have to finish Top 5 in five races and move yourself, if not, they "discipline you." Hahaha...

Thanks.
