Dear Bike Friends,
Here's the scoop: Bridge Pedal is an annual bike event which is a fundraiser for the BTA (Bicycle Transportation Alliance). We need over 400 volunteers to make this event happen, and we're hoping you can help us spread the word.
Volunteers will receive an event t-shirt, a Bridge Pedal voucher to ride free next year, entry in a drawing for round-trip tickets on Southwest Air, and (of course) our undying gratitude. It's also a lot of fun to cheer on the riders--really!
To volunteer, please call Jessica or Brita at the Bicycle Transportation Alliance (503.226.0676) or send us an e-mail at in-@bta4bikes.org. Please include your name, address, and day/evening phone numbers, as well as the shift you'd like (if you have a preference).
We especially need day-of volunteers for Sunday, August 12. Here are the shifts we still need to fill:
Course set-up, Sun Aug 12, Bridge crew 5 AM - Noon, SW Front/Pine
Course Marshal, Sun Aug 12
(Time commitment varies by site. All shift start times are AM.)
5:30 -10:30, SW 1st/Salmon
5:30 - 11:30, Red Cross Center
5:30 - Noon, NW 14/ Pettygrove
6:30-11:30, N Willamette/Portsmouth
Finish area operations, Sun Aug 12 9 AM - Noon (Waterfront Park)
Finish area operations, Sun Aug 12 11 AM - 2 PM
Here are our pre-ride high-priority shifts:
Expo/Fair SIGN-UP, Fri Aug 10 2:30 PM - 7 PM
Expo/Fair SIGN-UP, Sat Aug 11 1 - 5 PM
If you can't do these shifts but still want to volunteer, please let us know! There are still openings for one or two people in lots of different tasks.
Also, if you have a group of 15 or more people who could commit to volunteering as Course Marshals, please call the BTA to find out about a fundraising opportunity for your group.--
