The Elkhorn Classic Returns to Baker City, Oregon June 22-24

Long regarded as one of the most challenging and competitive stage races in
the northwest, The Elkhorn Classic is set to be another memorable event. The
multiple-day stage race is open to cyclists of all abilities, and runs
through the beautiful high desert in eastern Oregon, supported by a
community that¹s excited to host the event.

No day of race registration allowed. Register online or by mail. See below
for details.

Logistics and Rules

The Elkhorn Classic Stage Race (ECSR) is an Oregon Bicycle Racing
Association event. OBRA race rules can be found at www.obra.org.
FIAC ­ Federation of Independent Associations for Cycling (OBRA, CBR, ABR
and ACA) member organizations do not have to join OBRA. All others will have
to purchase an annual or day membership. You are encouraged to read and
understand the waiver as it does affect your legal rights. OBRA and the
organizers of this race do not provide insurance coverage for injuries that
occur at the race. The costs related to those injuries are the sole
responsibility of the individual participant.

ECSR is a FIAC National Championship event. You will have to be a member of
organizations (see above) to be eligible. See: www.fiac.us
for more info.

There is no day-of-race registration. Registration ends on June 15th.

Baker City has a population of 10,000 people and offers a wide range of
goods and services. There are numerous hotels, restaurants, stores, and
coffee shops for the peloton and their friends and family. It is a perfect
place to ride and visit so bring the whole family and between races be sure
to check out the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center, the downtown historic
buildings, the Sumpter dredge and ghost towns, and much more. The Hells
Canyon recreational area is within driving distance and there are numerous
lakes and rivers to fish. Mountain biking and hiking trails are numerous in

The Best Western Sunridge Inn is our host hotel. It is conveniently located
at One Sunridge Lane in Baker City just off of the I 84 exit. We have
reserved a block of rooms at a special discounted price. It is a great hotel
complete with a hot tub, outdoor pool, and restaurant. Please mention the
"Elkhorn Classic Stage Race" when making reservations to receive the reduced
rate. Rates are effective June 22nd, 23rd, and 24th, 2006. It is an easy
bike ride to the staging areas for all four races. For reservations call:

Baker City High School: The High School has graciously agreed to let us use
the high school gym and practice fields for camping and sleeping. For a
nominal fee, of $5.00 per night per person {all funds go directly to the
school} payable upon arrival, you will be able to store your gear, use the
showers and bathrooms of a large modern high school. [Plenty of hot water
and room]. Also both road races will be staged at the high school and it is
within easy riding distance of all venues. An excellent option for all
budget oriented riders. Arrive anytime after 1:00 PM Thursday June 25th to
reserve your space at the High School. The school is available Thursday,
Friday, and Saturday night.
ABSOLUTELY NO ALCOHOL OR TOBACCO PERMITTED ON SCHOOL PROPERTY.
Bring pads, sleeping bags, pillows, etc? The high school is only providing
the facilities. It is up to you to make them comfortable.
