Subject: Start Lists
I'd like to get the list of registered racers so I can make start sheets for
the officials and get a feel for the TT timing.
For the TT, the order will be reverse order of the finish from the day
before's RR. Thirty second spacing between riders in the same category and
a minimum of two minutes (starting at the next even minute) between groups.
This allows for people we show as DNF from stage 1 to protest and get put in
the race before their category rolls. The TT schedule will show the first
rider off at 08:01. We should be able to have a group TT start time at
registration so people will have a better feel fro when they'll be starting,
instead of showing up at 8 and finding their start time is 10:30.
There will be no sign in for the first two stages. There will be a sign-in
for the Crit and the last road race. I'm assuming Candi will provide the
list of numbers in the wheel lottery for the two RRs. A table will need to
be available, typically behind the officials booth for sign-in and results
posting. We need to identify a place for results posting at each venue and
who will be doing that. What's been done in the past is when the results
are done, they get posted in the school and then at the host hotel. On the
TT morning, there need to be another list of both the TT start order and the
first stage results. If that old building is still in the parking lot, we
can use that. It'd be nice if we had a big sign (about 6-8 inch letters on
cardboard stock or something that'll survive wind) that reads TT START ORDER
and another that reads RESULTS.
What do we have for a starters clock or a clock that has official time for
the TT start area? If there is the digital clock from OBRA, make sure it
gets plugged in early to be charged. It's been very reliable in the past,
but I believe it takes 8-10hrs to charge.
During the RR1 and TT will we have a printer and OBRA computer available for
the results guys, or will they have their own laptops? I'd like to ensure
that the first day goes as smooth as possible, because it'll set the tone
for the whole weekend.
On another issue: What's the plan for feed zones? Will there be neutral
water and at which feed zones? Last year Nathan had one of the first
support vehicles drop a box of waterbottles at the start of the last climb
on Sunday's stage. That was a life saver for some riders. No volunteers
required, just sitting by the side of the road. Will water be available at
the end of the first RR stage and the TT or Crit? I know the visitor center
is close to the TT finish, but I'm not sure they want/expect 400 thirsty
cyclists, in cleats traipsing through their place. In the past, an amazing
amount of water was consumed/wasted at the end of RR1. Don't plan on .5L/1L
bottles, 5-gallon jugs would be less wasteful, unless you have a water
sponsor.
