would like my water bottle back

i didnt say any thing about an empty water bottle. i said i want my water bottle back. thanks. =)

I was very thirsty after the race and was looking forward to the water that was in it.

Unless you are carrying waterbottles in your jersey as well as the bike, not sure why one would toss an empty waterbottle.

You get better aerodynamics leaving it on the bike.

I should add, Ok yes historically and even presently people seem to toss their empty waterbottles. I think i may have done it some maybe 15 yrs ago because others were doing it too. But because i am so cheap and of course no garruntee of getting it back, usually only if a family member or teammate were right there... Even in long races with no support where I have carried 2 or 3 bottles on my back, I won't toss them...

But then what they found out in wind tunnel tests is that leaving the empty bottle on the bike actually lowers the aero drag of the bicycle. Obviously this is marginal but if my memory serves me right, Lance and other pros were seen in TT's with an empty waterbottles in the cages...
