Subject: Letters of support for Nick Chenowth

Stan/Mike - could you post to your mailing lists to try to help out Nick

Chenowth. He's done so much for Elite Track Cycling as part of EDS in

the past, it's our turn to try to help him out.

Dick & Shan

* * *

Over the past two years you are probably aware that I have been in an

intense legal battle with EDS over the way I managed Team EDS between

1989-1999. For what EDS has defined as unauthorized purchases of bicycle

and related equipment I will be forced to serve between 15 months and 7

years in prison. So you can easily see that this is a very serious

matter for my family!

My attorney, Michael Gibson, has asked me to collect letters of

references from people I know. The intent of these letters will be to

give the sentencing judge a better understanding of who I am, and a

little about my life.

As a friend I am asking you to take some time and write a few words

about our relationship. It is very important that you follow the

general outline listed below.

The letter should be addressed to:

Hon. Paul Brown

United States District Judge

Eastern District of Texas

The letter should contain the following info written in your own words:

You understand that I have been found guilty of wire and mail fraud.

How you know me, how long, and under what circumstances etc..

Any reason you feel the Judge should be lenient with me.

Any experiences that you have had with me that might demonstrate my

character.

Finally, a personal statement of your support and a plea of leniency.

You MUST sign the letter with your name and address.

WE HAVE TO HAVE THESE LETTERS NO LATER THAN FRIDAY SEPT. 7TH 2001.

DO NOT MAIL the letter to the Judge! To insure that he gets it at the

appropriate time

PLEASE mail ,e-mail, or fax it to me. I will hand over the letters to my

attorney and he will review the letters at a scheduled meeting with

Judge Brown.
