The Kona "A" frame has the pivot wrapped around the outside of the bottom
bracket on a large bearing, this puts the pivot right in the center of the
crank so that the chain tension does not change with suspension movement.

Kona tried this a few years ago with the "A" full suspension SS. I think it
was a 4-bar suspension. No idea how it worked, but they don't make it
anymore if that's any indication of how well it worked. Anybody ever seen
one?

If it's an old "unified rear triangle" design, you should be fine because
the distance between the BB and the axle won't change as the suspension
compresses. If it's a newer (better) design, you may need an industrial
strength tensioner, like a derailleur. If the suspension really "elongates"
as it compresses, it may not be possible.

so i hvae this old full suspension mountain bike. it has 8speed on it that
is completely shot and word out. it's not worth getting new parts for it.
but i was thinking about converting it to single speed. but with the rear
suspension...it could be tricky.
any ideas?
