The 2008 Sunset Criterium is set to kick off on Saturday, Aug 9th. We will be racing concurrently with the Bethany Summer Concert, which means we will have a beer garden, numerous food vendors, and a live band, all located on the upper parking deck which is smack in the middle of the race course. Our new course connects to Laidlaw Rd. with a downhill before returning to the fast 200 meter finishing stretch. This .4 mile course will provide lots of excitement for all with a great view from the upper parking deck. It will be great fun for the entire family and you don't want to miss it!

We are offering $2000 in cash distributed among all podium finishers-Includes $1000 in cash to the Pro 1/2/3 through 10 places. $1500 in gift certificates and merchandise will be awarded through 10th place in all fields. There is a field limit of 75 in all races with the exception of the Cat 3,4,5, which has a field limit of 60 riders. The races are structured so that most riders can race twice.

The fee for race day registration is $25 with 20 percent of the proceeds donated to the American Diabetes Association. Pre-registration is available for $20 at ORbike.com through Aug 5th. We have had a delay in getting our website up and running, but you can view our official race poster at this link:

Hello fellow racers,
The Sunset Criterium is set to go! The last race of the year before we move into Cyclocross madness. There were rumors that the race was canceled, perhaps because it was originally scheduled to be held in July. As you can see on the OBRA calendar, the date is Saturday, Sep 22. Racing will take place from noon until 6:30 with cash prizes in every category. With $2500 in total cash awards plus primes, only the Twilight Criterium has paid more money for a single day event in Oregon this year. Some of you may be tired from a long season of hard racing, but you do not want to miss this one. The course is challenging and you better have your climbing legs ready. This event is for the whole family, with kid's races as well. Check out the details at www.sunsetcriterium.com. See you at the race.
