City Commissioner Dan Saltzman Visiting Bicycle Races at Portland
International Raceway (PIR) on August 27th.
Hundreds participate in weekly races at PIR during summer on Monday and
Tuesday evenings.
PORTLAND, Ore. Portland City Commissioner Dan Saltzman is visiting the
Oregon Bicycle Racing Association¹s (OBRA) bicycle races at Portland
International Raceway (PIR) on Monday, August 27 from 6-8 p.m. Portland
bicycle racers have been gathering at the PIR for more than 30 years, which
has provided racers an easily accessible and unique venue for racing.
Commissioner Dan Saltzman will tour the racetrack area, meet with OBRA
management, chat with racers, and start the races!
This event will give the OBRA community an opportunity to share how they
have benefited from this venue with the commissioner. Since its inception in
the late 1970s, OBRA¹s membership has grown to more than 3,000, which is the
highest per capita of racers in the United States.
³Portland is an amazing place to host bicycle events, and showing off what
an excellent venue PIR is very important,² said Jim Anderson, race organizer
of Monday Night Bicycle Races, ³We have hundreds of racers that use and
enjoy the venue each week.²
The mission of OBRA is to promote and develop the sport of bicycle racing in
Oregon by providing the tools and resources necessary for competition. OBRA
values safety, participation, sportsmanship, teamwork, camaraderie and fun.

The racing course at PIR is a flat and wide 1.9-mile loop on high-quality
pavement for cycling. Racing starts at 6:15 p.m. on Monday nights from May
