RIDES START NEXT WEEKEND!
Have you wanted to start bike racing? Are you already racing and
interested in joining a local team? Do you want to find a new team
whose goals are a better match for yours? This is your chance to meet
members of many Portland-based teams that are looking for riders of
all skill levels that are interested in racing.
The fall is the time to find a team that matches your interests and
goals. Over the winter, most teams ride together, gain fitness, learn
and improve skills and make plans for the upcoming race season. Many
teams decide their team rosters in the fall and order clothing and
equipment for the upcoming season.
A schedule of MEET THE TEAM rides can be gound here:
http://www.obra.org/teams/meet_the_team.html
All rides leave at 9 AM from Kettleman Bagels at SE 11th and Sherman
in Portland. There is ample, free (street) parking nearby.
These rides are social rides, at a conversational pace, and will be
30-35 miles in length and fairly flat (most teams will do the Oregon
City Loop). Rides may stop for 5-10 minutes along the way, but be
prepared for a continuous 2+ hour ride. Bring a functioning road bike,
a helmet, water, some food, a little money, and a spare tube in case
you flat. These rides will happen RAIN OR SHINE. Please wear
appropriate clothing.
feel free to email me if you have questions about this series of
rides. Contact the teams directly if you have specific questions
about a team's ride (contacts are listed for each ride)
