Cycling and sciatic nerve issues

Hi I had it bad 2 years ago. I went to a cut-out saddle for other
issues, and ended up with a saddle I thought was comfortable so put on
all my bikes. Turns out the saddle was just soft enough that it put
pressure on the nerve. I had a similar search as yours including PT,
massage, etc. but ultimately changed saddles with 95% relief. Will

Subject: [OBRA Chat] Cycling and sciatic nerve issues

Hello, Anyone there out in OBRA land have any experience dealing with
sciatica aggravated by cycling? A few month ago I started out with
really sore/tender glute muscles, then symptoms moved down leg to
include some ankle/foot numbness. After 1 1/2 months Chiro/Doctors/MRI
checks it was concluded that my sciatic issues are not caused by lumar
spine issues, but most likely by "piriformis syndrome" in which the
piriformis muscle can become irritated/inflamed and put pressure on the
sciatic nerve. This can happen to cyclists and runners (repetitive
motion exercises) If you are interested to know more see this link:
http://www.eorthopod.com/public/patient_education/6623/piriformis_syndro
me.html

So, if anyone has any experience or success recovering from piriformis
syndrome I would appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks in advance,

Andy Peake
