Ready, Set, cyclocross

We are just over 1 week away from the first weekend cyclocross race. There
are a few things that need to be reviewed.

1. You will be getting a new number to use at cyclocross. You will not be
using your cloth road number or mtn bike plate. This number should be
retained for the entire cyclocross season. Remember to bring it each week.
The number you pickup will reflect the category you ride. So if you plan on
riding 2 groups, you will have to get two numbers and make sure you are
wearing the correct one each time. If you move from one category to another,
you will need to pick up a new number. Please do not ride in a category
with the wrong number series. Please bring your obra membership card as
proof of an exisiting membership when you pick up your number for the first
time. After that you will not need to show your card. Please download the
waiver off the website and have it completed in advance. Allow plenty of
time for the registration process, especially at any Crusade race. Remember-
there is a 100 rider limit for each field. This will be strictly enforced.

2. Results for cyclocross can be a time consuming and tedious task. Most
times they will not be available at the event you attend. It is very
important that your number is placed on the left side of your body facing
the side of the course. Numbers that cannot be read, cannot be scored. The
method of scoring ccx is to annotate each riders position behind the 1st
place rider each lap. Because there are 100+ riders going though each lap,
many times we may miss a rider and have to review notes. I, personally, will
be doing results for most of the weekend events. I would appreciate it if
you would calmly explain why you think that there might be an error in the
results and work with me to fix them. You should contact me immediately
after you review the results and not wait until the next week. I will not
be correcting results after the next week's races.

3. If you have not already discovered the forum for the Cross Crusade I
urge you to use it. While at times it is wild and crazy there is usualy good
information and you can find an answer to most of your questions.

After the massive success of last year's season it is difficult to think we
will expect the same growth. However, there have been 149 riders at the
weekly instructional sessions so it looks like we should anticipate very
large attendance.

If you have any comments or suggestions I am willing to hear them.
