And while we're at it, no beer at Alpenrose, either. I hear milk is
allowed, however.

It is illegal to bring any alcohol (as well as firearms but I don't think
that's an issue) to any school. Yes, kindly leave your 'beverages' behind.

First, I want to thank everyone for coming out to the 5th Annual Hood River Cyclocross Classic. We had over 300 people (our biggest turnout ever) and great racing.

I have one concern that I need to share. I teach at the High School, which is why it's really easy for me to get the venue (and keep it). I work with the administration and grounds crew to keep the impact as little as possible. It's a great little course and our impact on the trails, even with 300+ people doing 7-10 laps each, is pretty minimal. My biggest venue concern every year is just keeping people off the football field and the track.

This year I'm dealing with a little different issue. We had a couple reports (even some photos) of people drinking alcohol on the school campus and I had to go out and pick up some beer bottles and cans. I know, thanks to Belgians and Brad Ross, that cyclocross and beer go hand in hand, but we just can't have alcohol on a school campus. There are signs posted on all of the driveways. I imagine that even mighty Cross Crusade has to clean up its act a little on school properties.

I'll put it on the flyer next year, but I hope you guys think about it for Barlow and the Rainier High School Crusade race. We've lost plenty of great cross venues in the past, and we don't want to lose any more.

Thanks,

Jeff Lorenzen
