First, I want to make it clear that I also want to thank Beth and Lisa for

donating money.



Lack of prize money is never a reason to not offer a separate field. You

just don?t give prizes to that specific separate field. Lack of time on the

schedule, lack of resources for adequate follow caravan, increased officials

requirement and cost are some reasons not to offer a specific field. Adding

to the prize list does not change any of these things. In this particular

case, Jim is already planning to track the results of Cat 4 and Masters

women. He just wasn?t going to prize them or run them in a separate race.

Now he has prizes. Whether prizes will draw more competitors or substantial

improve the race experience for that group is what is being debated.
