For anyone who wants it I can dig up a copy of my law school "A" paper about bioremediation of marine oil spills, where you dump a bunch of bacteria on the oil and it eats the oil then dies (starves- poor bacteria) and sinks into the water.
auto mechanics have known for years that you put garden fertilizer on oil spills around the shop. the nitrogen helps the oil eating bacteria grow.
That dear friends is enough over sharing for the day from me.

.ExternalClass DIV {;} I've found that using chain degreaser full strength works well to remove black chain lube stains from the cloth upholstery of my car (I sometimes toss the bike inside the car and grease from the chain ring somehow finds its way onto the back seat). I've also used it to get out the occasional chain ring tatoo from my "business casual" work pants. Note that the clothing stains must be treated BEFORE they are washed and dried.
Lately I've been using Performance Bike's "CleanSafe" biodegradable degreaser. It has completely removed the stains.

Call a carpet cleaner that does upholstery cleaning. The only way to get grease out is with solvents which leave a residue that will collect dirt unless it is extracted. Enzymes eat bacteria which cause odors...not oil.
Lisa,
There is a product called EcoSolve that is based on enzymes that "eat" carbon based compounds. I have used it on a number of applications and it has never
failed me. The manufacturer claims that it is the same technology that was
used to clean up the Valdez oil spill. Call Suzanne Stradley at
503-702-0229. Tell her I sent you please.
