Hello,
The Portland State University Cycling Team is getting ready for
another great year and I wanted to let all of the PSU students out in
OBRA know about our upcoming Team Open House this Tuesday. If you're
not a PSU student, you are still welcome to come learn about our team
but collegiate racing is for full time students only, sorry.
Here's the meeting information:
Who: PSU Students, men and women, all racing categories and ability levels
What: 2007/2008 Fall Recruitment Meeting, (team open house)
When: Tuesday, October 2nd at 7pm.
Where: PSU Rec Sports Office - located in Smith Student Memorial Union
Building (SMSU) room 047.
More club info can be found at www.psucycling.com
Our team is well supported by the university so we are able to provide
a lot of support for our riders. Benefits include: subsidized team
clothing, race entry fees, travel costs and lodging to both northwest
conference collegiate events and national championships as well as the
usual product discounts. For those concerned about riding for two
teams, the collegiate road racing season runs from march to may so
many riders split time between a collegiate team and their OBRA team
in the spring and race full time with their OBRA team in the summer.
And while we don't focus as a team on local cross, track and mountain
bike races, we do provide support for racers competing at those
collegiate national championships.
So, if you're at PSU and are would like to get involved with the team,
please stop by the meeting or send me an email if you can't make it.
We'd love to have you riding with us this year.
Thanks for your time,
Jimmy Lingwood
P.S. If you are not a student at PSU but are in college somewhere
else, I still encourage you to get involved with your school's
collegiate cycling team.
