Polar battery replacement

If you make it to Salem. Jackson Jewelers can change your battery on all
Polar watches and computers. We have a certified Rolex watchmaker that can
handle most every watch. This ensures that he can re-align the gasket on
the case back. www.jacksonjewelers.com for directions

Thanks all for your great advice on the polar battery replacement.
Some do it themselves and there's a couple of suggestions for here in town but many go to the Washington place to have it done that's Polar authorized

Steve,
I've done it before myself with no problems. Just be sure to use a little silicone grease on the gasket.

I know this has been discussed before bit I can’t remember the result.

Is there a local jeweler here in town, hopefully on the East Side of town, that can do a Polar HR monitor battery replacement and water seal it like it was?

I don’t want to do it myself because I don’t believe the water seal will be maintained.

e-mail off list in you know someone.

Thanks so much,

Steve Long

Any of the Batteries Plus shops will do it for you. The only tool required is a 00 Philips screwdriver. The HRM/watch has a gasket that has to be put back in place. No big deal.

Has anyone found a local place who will replace the battery in a Polar HRM? I know that they can't reseal the watch properly after they open the case but what does this mean? No deep-sea diving? No showering in it? No muddy cyclocross? Thanks!

Maloy's Jewlry Workshop on SW 10th, one block north of the library, replaced
the battery in my Polar last Friday. Quick and inexpensive.

Pretty easy replacement if you decide you want to do it yourself.

In the polar unit put in a CR2354. i recommend the panasonic battery
(others are too thick) just make sure you don't muck up the rubber
seal. depending on the unit its just four screws to take the back
plate off.

For the heart rate strap use a coin to open the unit. pop the
battery out. it's a pretty common battery you can pick up pretty
much anywhere.

They refused to work on my Polar watch, saying that it would never seal
again if they opened it. I ended up having to send it to Polar's west-coast
service affiliate to have the battery replaced.

There is a gentleman who does watch repair at the NE Fred Meyer on 26th and
Broadway. I had the battery in my Polar watch replaced on Saturday for $12.
Took him about five minutes. Works perfectly.

The newer ones do have a user-replaceable battery in the transmitter unit. I
have a Polar S720i and the transmitter is a separate "pod" to which the
fabric chest-strap attaches on both sides. On the back there is a circular
door that opens with a quarter to gain access to the battery. It's sealed
with a rubber O-ring and I haven't had any water intrusion. Granted, I don't
swim in mine but it does get pretty wet with sweat.

I never found a local one. I shipped it to the address back east on the
Polar website.

Whatever you do, DON'T attempt it yourself. Sounds/looks simple, but
the sealing is tricky. Luckily, mine was still under warranty and I got
a new watch.

Paul

Maloy's Jewlry Workshop on SW 10th. I don't have a Polar, but I do
have a Sports Instruments HRM that does not have have a user-
replaceable battery.
They have replaced the battery for me twice, both times on the spot.
