You might try a Selle SMP saddle. Selle SMP, not selle Italia or selle san
marco.

A couple of things you might consider as well. If your friend has different
length femurs than you the saddle set back is off. Even if your legs are
exactly the same length any disparity in femur length affects set back.
Therefore if he was sitting too far forward he had no support for his sit
bones and, thus, put all his weight on the pernium.
A second possibility is the saddle was too narrow for him. The great
majority of us need a saddle somewhere in the low to mid 140mm width, such
as Specialized' 143s. Unfortunately most older saddles are too narrow.

The bike was probably too long for him, so he sat on the nose of the saddle
for the whole 30 miles. That probably put a lot of pressure to the
taintrather than the sit bones.

If he's still numb down there, I think he should probably go see a doctor.
That's not normal. I'm sure it will be okay, but wow, that sucks.

I have a serious question to ask, but first let me provide some background.
On Sunday, I went road riding with a friend who does a lot of mountain
biking. It was basically his first road ride ever. We are about the same
size so he rode my rain bike. It seem to fit him with no adjustments needed.
We went about 30 miles... climbed Thompson to skyline and came down Old
Cornelius. He hung on surprisingly well the whole ride. He was wearing what
appeared to be board shorts, rather than your usual cycle shorts. So, he
called me this morning and said that ever since the ride on Sunday his dick
has been numb. That's right, his dick. So after I got done clowning him
about the situation, I told him about my experience. The only times that I
have experienced numbness down there is on a really long ride, or really
cold ride, and it goes away shortly after the ride ends. Anyway, is what my
friend is experiencing normal? Did he pinch a nerve? Is it going to turn
black and fall off? I'd really like to call him back with some useful
information.

Thanks,

PS - Sorry if this subject is not [PG] enough, but it's a real issue.
