Ron and Dorothy Strasser
A herd of cattle? More Cow Bell... and single speed riders. I registered
today and am planning on being the champ even if all those top riders
mentioned ride their best... note those bonus options on Saturday... may
even be some possible points available at the pub crawl when the elites are
home in bed getting "speed rest". Maybe I can leverage some handicap points
toward the championship because of my advanced age.
Honestly. I think this is a rare event that many of us take for granted. I
use my getting to race in the nationals at PIR in my first year of cross
(2004) as an example. I did it because it was here... and each year I have
wished I could do it again... but alas that takes $$ I do not have when the
race is held far away. So... here we have the new WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS of
singlespeed cyclocross right here in our backyard. I say get out there and
race and support it. We are so fortunate to be surrounded by so many peers
that care so much about our cycling dreams. This could be the most fun
event of the season... until the next race of course.
