Yah- it's a loop around Grand Island- staging will be at Heiser Farms
(where the Heiser Farms CX race is).

As far as I remember it is all pavement. Races times will be shorter.
And I'm pretty sure that it will be one field on course at a time (so
no neutralizing).

Trailhead Coffee Roasters is working hard on the event- and I'm advising.

First up-

The Cherry Pie RR has been canceled. (The main promoters recently had
a baby- so big congratulations to them!). Don't despair- there are 2

Island Road Race Series will be on the paved roads of Grand Island
near Dayton- and will be put on by Trailhead Coffee Roasters.

Of course- the opener for the season is now Jack Frost TT- and Echo
Red to Red is on March 2nd (and yes- it is still OBRA). After a brief
kerfluffle we worked things out.

Info updates:

Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet
-------

The annual meeting and awards banquet will be held on Saturday,
January 9th at Madison's Bar and Grill in Portland. Details will be
listed on the website shortly. Please note that this year OBRA will
pay for the 1st place BAR winners' dinners! Tickets will be $22 per
person. Space will be limited.

Online Registration
-------

We expect online registration for 2010 memberships to open shortly.
Thanks for your patience as we work on finalizing OBRA's own secure
registration system.

Evening with Tyler Farrar
-------

Greetings OBRA-land,

This Weekend!!!!

On Saturday December 19, 2009, River City Bicycles will host an
Evening with Tyler Farrar including a question and answer session,
story telling, food and drink, and general bike socialization.

As most of you know, Tyler Farrar is the world class sprinter from the
Pro Tour team Garmin Slipstream (soon to be Garmin Transitions). He
has stage wins in grand tours, prestigious European one day races, US
National championship races. Farrar is from Washington and will be in
town this holiday season doing some events around the region.

To attend the event, log onto www.orbike.com and register. The cost is
$5 plus a registration fee. All proceeds go directly to OBRA, this
event benefits all of us! We ask that you bring a can of food to
donate as well.

Space is limited so don't delay. There will likely be a raffle,
certainly some autographs. The event looks to be a fun evening with a
top professional cyclist, truly a rare opportunity. The event begins
at 5:00pm and will go until 7:00 or later.
See you there!

Folks,

A bunch of things:

Please remember to consider OBRA when making donations before the end
of the year. These donations will not only help us purchase signs,
but also radios and other equipment for CCX and other disciplines. We
will also be making a push in 2008 to bring more juniors into racing.
Please help us out with your tax deductible contribution.

If you are a business and would like to advertise with OBRA, please
contact me directly for details. We have a couple of mailings coming
up.

Please note that Cascade Classic needed to move their dates because of
scheduling conflicts. The new dates for the Cascade Classic are back
to July 9-13th. The High Desert Omnium has been moved to August 2-3.

Don't forget that the Annual OBRA Party is coming up on January 12th.
Come join us for the festivities. Details on the OBRA site. Please
also remember that the address on the mailer was incorrect.
Laurelwood is on NE 40th, not NW 40th.

http://www.obra.org/flyers/2008/annual_mtg_banquet.html

The main officials training will be on January 13th in Corvallis.
Contact Jim Fischer for more details at jim.fischer@hp.com. There
will also be a training in Bend in February taught by our own Splinter.

Finally-
Upgrades:
Road
Robert Sanders- 4 to 3
Scott Harris- 5 to 4
Richard Elgin- 5 to 4
Mike McGee- 4 to 3
Kevin Hedahl- 4 to 3
Uma Kleppinger- 4 to 3
Hagiwara Takuya- 4 to 3

A lot of things- we should all give Candi a big thank you for the
Hillsboro results. She has spent over 26 hours scoring. Yes, you read
correctly- twenty six over the past 3 days.

Second- there was a misprint in the flier that was sent out. The
address of the Laurelwood Pizza Co. is on NE 40th not NW 40th. Sorry
for any confusion

Third- the 2008 schedule is constantly being updated. Please always
check the website for the latest or subscribe to the iCal.

Fourth- don't forget to renew today. There is a checkbox on the online
signup if you want to keep your 2007 number. Numbers will be mailed/
available for pickup in January.

Fifth- please don't give yourself an upgrade when you renew. ;) We've
seen a couple already.

Sixth- online registration for the banquet is or will be available
shortly on our website. Instructions will also be there if you want
to sign up via snail mail. Remember- everyone is invited for fun and
frolic.

Seventh- awards to be given out at the banquet include awards for the
Oregon Cup and the age graded bars. Please note that I did not say
category bars. We will publish a list of the award winners later.

Eighth- don't forget to think of OBRA when considering end of year
donations.

Thanks!
