Forget your iPod on your next ride, check out these audio freaks. New York times has an article Bicycles That Carry Powerful Beats, and Even a Rider or Two about cyclist who are going beyond just the regular iTunes list, but equipping their bikes with full stereo systems, including DVD players. um like last night, doing yoga right next to Lance Coffel when a melody came into my head, and I had to let is play out to figure out that it was Scooter and Fozzie bear from the muppets doing a duet!

Greg is just a little shy about his music.
Like many of us, he has kids. And, also like many of us, he got hooked on
the kids music. I am almost certain Greg does hill repeats to Raffi's

Well, in fact, I think we learn a lot about other people from learning
about their tastes in art, beauty, food and anything else a person could
have a "taste" about or for. When I know what's on OBRA Ipods, I think I
get to know a little more about the people in OBRA. That's a good thing
for us to do, don't you think?

During yesterday's workout, these are the first songs on my dedicated playlist to come up in shuffle mode
"Give Me Novacaine" - Green Day
"Under My Thumb" - Rolling Stones ( I know it's misoginystic, but it's also good)
"Coldsweat" (remix) - The Sugarcubes - Look at it as Bjorks reply to Mick (see above)
"Fuzzbox Voodoo" - ZZ Top - Nothing like tube amps, harmonics, and double entendre Texas boogie to get the burn going
"Brand New Cadillac" - The Clash (or "Long White Cadillac" by Dave Alvin. Probaly any song about a car could be inserted here.)
"When Love Comes To Town" Live from the Kingdom Remix - U2 - Perhaps the best U2 remix, complete with Little Richard preaching and a wicked sax solo.
Warm up=Coltrane, Davis, Evans, Bird.
Work=Zeppelin, Radiohead, Arcade Fire, Black Keys, Smiths
Cool Down=the sound of my head smacking the basement floor once again as I ride off the rollers.

It's winter base training time, and that means that many of us have taken to the basement, riding our trainers and rollers. I've gotten out the Spinervals DVDs again, and re-discovered one of their not-so-endearing quirks: the music kinda sucks. So, I've taken to turning off the sound and blasting something more suitable over the stereo. Problem is, the stuff I've collected over the years has served plenty of purposes BUT working out, and leaves a little to be desired.
So I ask: what's on your iPods? What was everyone warming up to all season out there in the parking lot?
Here, I'll start the list off:

I dont have an Ipod as I prefer 'full sized' uncompressed music but I would
like to let people
know what I have on the platter (disc changer) as of late.
Opeth "Deliverence"
Emerson Lake and Palmer "Tarkus" and "Brain Salad Surgery"
Various Scarlatti Harpsichord Sonatas (hundreds of them!)
Anything by Sergi Prokoviev (nothing like meters of 11/8 in quintuple forte
to motivate you!!)
The Trey Gunn Band "The Joy of Molybdenum"
King Crimson "Red" and "Starless and Bible Black"
Rush "Exit Stage left" and "Hemispheres" (Those dont leave the changer)
I have also been known to pedal max effort intervals to Slayer's "Reign in
Blood"
-K
You can't beat the three "R's" of Rock.
Round about by Yes
Radar Love by Golden Earring
Rosalita by Bruce Springsteen
And how can anyone not getting motivated by Mr Jones. If your feet aren't
tapping by the end of that song, you better check your pulse. You might be
dead.
I created a playlist for cycling, but I can remember what songs and what
order. Mostly I have it on Shuffle.

You don't need help, you just need more James Brown.
Aside from JB, my favorites are Bjork, Cake, and Beck. Try some of those!
-Erik
Here, I'll start the list off:
AC/DC: "Back in Black"
Lenny Kravitz: "Are You Gonna Go my Way?"
James Brown: "Sex Machine"
Told ya I needed help....

Intervals = Dead Kennedys, Minutemen - fast, short, angry
Tempo = Basketball, football, movie with shallow plot
Aerobic = books on tape - free from library

TdF for the last 9 years. I need to load them onto DVD. You know how hard it is find to working used VCRs these days?
Joe
Oh Yeah?
How about:
Maynard Ferguson
John Tesh (cool down music)
Van Halen
Tower of Power
Cold Play (great for power intevals)

Short of a lobotomy, maybe some Paul Okenfold music would help. "ready
steady go" should be a standard for the trainer.

It's winter base training time, and that means that many of us have taken to
the basement, riding our trainers and rollers. I've gotten out the
Spinervals DVDs again, and re-discovered one of their not-so-endearing
quirks: the music kinda sucks. So, I've taken to turning off the sound and
blasting something more suitable over the stereo. Problem is, the stuff
I've collected over the years has served plenty of purposes BUT working out,
and leaves a little to be desired.
So I ask: what's on your iPods? What was everyone warming up to all season
out there in the parking lot?
