*A CALL FOR SUPPORT FROM THE OBRA MEMBERSHIP:*

As a board member of the Friends of PIR (FOPIR), I've been slated with the
task of assembling 15 *volunteers from the cycling community to help out at
the CHAMP Car Races July 25-27*.

Volunteer shifts are expected to be 8 hrs. (in two
shifts) within the three-day event period. In exchange, volunteers are given
food, drink, free parking (which you won't need becuase you'll ride
your bike there) and a *free three-day pass*. In addition, I will compensate
any volunteer with *free entry to one Tuesday PIR*.

*More importantly*, by volunteering we, the cycling community, will
demonstrate our ability to mobilize in support of that which is important to
us - a venue of critical importance to OBRA (7,500 bicycle racers/year;
60,000 rider laps/year). With our membership support, managerial involvement
and political capital bicycle racing at PIR/Delta Park can (will) expand to
more road surfaces and disciplines (i.e. covered veledrome), eventually
becoming a world-class venue (Portland Six-Day, World Cyclocross
Championships, stage finish for the Tour of the Cascades, ProTour,
etc....not to mention a killer Kermesse series).....you get the point.

If interested *PLEASE REPLY*.

*Thanks in advance for your support of Oregon Bicycle Racing.*
