I attended Jake's funeral and offered Judy my condolences on behalf of the Oregon Bicycle Racing Association. It was a wonderful service and a great reminder of the amazing friends we can make through our outdoor activities, be they cycling or windsurfing or whatever. Jake will be missed.
Be careful out there.

Subject: Obra member dies
I want to share with you some sad news about an OBRA member and a dear friend of ours. Jake loved to ride and we will miss him dearly. I wanted to let everyone know about the sad loss of an incredible human on our planet. Attached is the obituary that was printed in the New York Times. Jake lived in Portland and Rowena.
Thomas J. Bigham Jr.
BIGHAM--Thomas J., Jr. (Jake), of Portland and Rowena, Oregon, died accidentally while windsurfing, one of his great passions, in extreme conditions off the coral reef at Cabo Pulmo, Baja, Mexico on December 22, 2007. Beloved husband of Judith O'Connor and devoted father of Raina, Louisa, and Idabelle. Born July 26, 1957 and raised in New York City. Son of the late Rev. Thomas J. Bigham and Julia Scribner Bigham. Graduated from Salisbury School, Hamilton College and the University of Oregon School of Architecture. Architect in Portland and the Columbia River Gorge. Board member and former chairperson of the Oregon Investment Board for the protection and support of the Columbia River Gorge economy. He was recently appointed a trustee of the Northwest Academy in Portland. Those who knew him appreciated his ever-present sense of humor and ability to lift the spirits of those around him. He was a true leader whose absence will leave a permanent void in the lives of his family
and many friends. Survived by his sisters Hildreth McCarthy, M.D., of New Orleans, LA, Mary Binks of Nairobi, Kenya, and Anda Hutchins of New Canaan, CT. A memorial service will be held in Hood River, OR, on Sunday, December 30th, and burial will be in New Marlboro, MA, in the summer. Donations may be made to Columbia River Keeper at www. columbiariverkeeper.org.
