Things I think can use some attention:
- Standardized rigorous officials training with yearly
refresher/re-certification
- Instructional documents for Promoters (promoting guide)
- Improvements to OBRA truck to aid in communications within the truck while
scoring as well as voice communication around the course.
- OBRA fund raising to facilitate purchase of necessary "common" equipment
like signs and radios.

_____Jeff Lorenzen

I've been an OBRA member for nearly 15 years, and have raced, officiated,
promoted, volunteered, and worked as a mechanic. I live in Hood River and
am a member of the Disco Velo club. In 2007, I was the Race Director at the
Hood River cross races, Technical Director for the Mt. Hood Cycling Classic
and the Cascade Classic, worked as an OBRA and USCF/UCI official for the
USGP cross races and an OBRA official for the Hood River criterium series.
I raced many of the Tuesday PIR races, some of the late summer/early fall
road races, and a full season of cross.

For the last three years, I have also served you on the OBRA Board and I
would like to have the opportunity to continue to do so. As you all know,
these past years have brought about a lot of change in our beloved
organization. As a Board member, I have been a part of these changes and
decisions. I feel my experience with OBRA and experience with the Board
will continue to help guide OBRA into the future. I am very excited about
the growth and energy of OBRA, and I hope you can give me the chance to
contribute through the Board of Directors.

OBRA means a great deal to all of us that race bikes in Oregon, providing
safe and fun racing, and friends to enjoy it with. I am running for the
OBRA board of directors because I want to help the organization maintain the
strength and grassroots feel that it is known for, and pledge to work hard
to help OBRA meet future challenges. I have experience as a racer and
coach, an economist and a financial planner, and most recently a
Chiropractic Physician. This range of experience gives me perspective that
I hope will be useful to the Board, and I will work hard to help OBRA meet
challenges that arise.

_____Mike Murray

I have been racing bikes since 1972. I moved to Oregon in 1980 and have
been active with OBRA, then OCA, since shortly after that. Things are much
different now with lots more racers, events, equipment, etc. I think we can
easily say that Oregon has more bike racing than any state in the US. I
would like continue to participate in the organizational planning that makes
this happen.

_____Gregg Magnus
I have been around bicycle racing in Oregon for more than fifteen years, or
since it was run out of little red trailer from the Murray's back yard. I
have seen this organization change names and grow from its most basic grass
roots group of people, to an established, organized body that extends state
wide and affects thousands. I have raced and ridden throughout Oregon, and
I value how great the OBRA organization is. I have the ability to maintain
OBRA's integrity, and maximize its potential. I enhance the organization by
bringing experience, dedication and a passion for bicycle racing to the
table.

I have sat on a Board of Directors before as a student leader in college. I
was one of sixteen individuals, who served on the Board of Directors, of the
Oregon Student Association. During that time, I represented and worked for
tens of thousands of Oregon College & University students. This experience
taught me the importance of an effective and collaborative leader. I learned
how to analyze a problem from several perspectives, prior to making any
decision, as it had the potential to impact thousands.

I was first introduced to bicycle racing through my parents at the age of
twelve. My father began racing and my mother later became an official. A
huge portion of my childhood was spent around racing, and thus had an
immeasurable impact on my up-bringing. I raced as a youth because my father
did, but I was not yet a serious competitor. After I graduated from high
school, I found myself very obese and discovered the bicycle as a means to
exercise. I fell in love with riding, and shaved my waistline because of
it. Later, I began racing again as a serious competitor. I took advantage
of Oregon's multitude of events, and raced in all corners of the state.
That's what makes OBRA so great. A person can practically race every day of
the week, in several parts of the state. There are few other states that
offer, or could even fathom, the number of venues that have been established
because of OBRA.

I can be an exceptional representative to you, the members of OBRA, as a
Board of Director. I feel that my prior experiences and dedication to this
organization make me an ideal candidate for the position, and ask that you
vote for me.

_____Steve Yenne

I would like to let you know why I am interested in serving on the OBRA
Board. Firstly a little background; I have been bike racing since 1984. I
started at ground level racing time trials and PIR. I have promoted several
races and have been very active in the Salem cycling community as a Club
president and member of many clubs. I race all kinds of bikes and also am an
advocate of safe and sane cycling. I think my main asset to the Board would
be my communication skills
with the many members from all over the state. I fear that OBRA is in danger
of being fractionalized between the various regions of our state. Southern
Oregon, Central Oregon, Eastern Oregon, Eugene, the Valley, Portland; they
all have local issues that OBRA could probably address better. I was stunned
by some of the anti-Portland sentiment that was vented earlier this year. My
main goal if elected to the Board would be to make all the members if OBRA,
regardless of where they live, feel like the organization was understanding
and responsive to their needs.
