If you're trying to save weight by changing to carbon fiber pins for your race number, you're going about weight savings all wrong.
I just have Chuck Norris yell at my number to stick to my jersey. No pins required.

Now "I" am not going to open the can of worms (or serpents depending on point of view) regarding "ankle chips", but I think we OBRA-ites should have chips implanted like my dogs. The chip strap around my ankle was just too much added weight and produced considerable wind resistance. Once chip is implanted, just walk up to the registration tent, get scanned to assure you are who you say, then get scanned every time you go through the finish line rain, shine or mud. Keep the camera for those that cannot be chipped because of religious beliefs. Direct feed all those stats into that nifty little laptop and hey... time for a recovery beverage and a PB sandwich. Maybe we could even get the top model chip that would allow us to pay, feed all our power info, heart rate, and even supply info for drug control. Hey think outside the box!
Any Veterinarians out there that can get OBRA a quote? If it is spendy like the new signs, maybe we can get a sponsor like Intel or Dunder Mifflin. I know we have to pass this through the Board first. I apologize if someone picks up on the ankle chip idea tried at the Crusade a few years back. Not my intention here. Just a little humor.

But compared to the old OBRA card it's improved by at least a factor of 3. The old one was so weak it hardly made any noise when I clipped it to my fork and let it rub on the spokes...

Wow, with my new carbon fiber pins I found in my stocking from Santa, I'll be able to best that weight savings at about 15 grams. At this rate, I may not need to lose that holiday weight after all!

to a 10 gram savings. Sweet! ;-)

We also have a very nice image of Brett Jarolimek on the left side of the "OBRA" sticker that was in our packet. Thanks and good idea. For those that have not seen it, there is also a full size image of Brett on the back brick wall of the Hollywood Bike Gallery. His singlespeed hangs next to the graphic. Thanks Matt Cardinal. Keep the spirit alive.
Ride hard, but smart.
