PDX Cyclist Assault (second hand information)

Mark J. Ginsberg

I do not know, I only know the event did happen,
but if you think you saw it I would cal police non-emergency and let them know.

I think you may be right that it might just have the "temp" license inside the rear window.

I would venture to bet that there aren't many royal blue hummers without a license in this area. Could be wrong.

Mark,
Do you know if the "missing plate" just mean new car with the temp registration? If so I have seen this hummer with in the last week, maybe even yesterday on 405. It sticks out like a soar thumb. I would venture to bet that there aren't many royal blue hummers without a license in this area. Could be wrong.

Hey guys,
Firstly, please forgive the mass email -- I'm not in the habit of
sending them out and hope you'll forgive the faux pas and respect the
intent of this email by not mass responding. Last night a friend was
riding his bike to an appointment in NW (23rd and Pettygrove), and was
run off the road, attempted to be crushed by the vehicle, assualted,
threatened with a softball bat and punched in the face.

I'm writing this because I'm trying to get our own "amber" type alert
out among the cycling community here in Portland. I think we're all
aware of the increasing hostility toward cyclists out on the road and
want to encourage you all to help us stand up to it here with our own
form of community watch/community activism. While the cops were called
and an incident report was made, the driver got away.

Thus, please keep a look out for a royal blue hummer missing its
plates. The aggressor was a balding man in his late thirties. If you
see this truck please call the police and report it immediately.
Please also pass this alert on to fellow cyclists and friends and have
them do the same.

Thank you and careful commuting/riding, Becca
