You know, back when I started MTB, the series was waaaay better. There
was this really cool atmosphere and the courses were "real". There was
the possibility for any beginner or masters racer to earn a decent
paycheck, and the category then was just men 35+. Good folks would
just leave their dogs loose and the wives would keep them in line if
they got too rowdy. It was a supportive family atmosphere. Now, the
sport has changed. Not only do the wives wanna race, folks can't even
leave their dog off-leash, and there's all these intermediate levels
of "masters" racing. Beginner masters, masters 35-39, masters elite,
masters 40-45 w/ hummers, etc. And now, masters 45-47 w/ hybrid eco
cars. And all these beginner riders, gettin' in the way when I'm
obviously comin' through. Don't they even know what "TRACK!" means?
Jeesh. Seems like there's always like 8 or 9 of them. Why don't they
just stay home. It's obviously about ME. And when are they gonna start
paying out again? I don't know WHAT is up w/ these promoters these
days. I should have picked a different sport. Nascar would be fun, but
the gas is just too dang expensive to drive these days. And all these
"Gore worshipping hippies" who are all up in a stink about this
"global warming" boloney. Been outside today? It's COLD!

(Just trying to stoke up some conversation here on the obra list.
Seems like it's been kind of quiet lately.)

Hey,
I feel like mtb racing is controlling the forum which may disrupt the
universe itself-----lets talk about masters racing and dogs---we will get
there anyway right?
Thanks for all the passion and FYI I am planning a mtb Officials clinic and
mini Summit on 2/16 in Corvallis around 11am. I will follow that up with one
in Bend in March. More details soon.
Thanks
Mike

Thanks
Mike
