Re: MTB in SUMMER!

I agree with Randy, I would much rather race in the summer and put on races in the summer. But the numbers really drop after June. Maybe some of you shoud put on a Summer race. Maybe even a Saturday Summer race. I'll be there. There's a lot of work that goes into a race, then you loose money on the race. Plus you don't even get to race the race your self.
All the funds raised at the Jedi XC race this year will go to the Boys & Girls Club bike club. So the more riders we get the bigger the check we get to give them. That's why we moved from August or July to June. That and the Fire Danger. The Jedi has been shut down because of fire dangers. The bikes must be hot :)Cliff > Date: Tue, 29 Jan 2008 14:35:47 -0800> From: raggy23@yahoo.com> To: brianfsrxc1@yahoo.com; obra@list.obra.org> Subject: Re: [OBRA Chat] MTB in SUMMER!> > Mike Ripley would take the lead and then racers and promoters could maybe have a summit or something. Mike Ripley would take the lead and then racers and promoters could maybe have a summit or something. Maybe before or after the Mudslinger at the school?
The bottom line is you guys/gals that are posting are excited to race in the Summer...how do you get the rest of the racers too???
As I posted no races after June even had 100 racers and a couple had 40ish racers YIKES!
Good Luck

While this discussion is definitely productive, and
fun for those of us that race XC, we need to take it a
step further and do something with the information.
How do we go about getting a committee formed to
address our concerns? As I mentioned in a previous
post, I am unsure of how the OBRA structure works. Do
I just begin it as a concerned racer? Does it need to
be blessed by OBRA or Mike? Any info. would be
appreciated.

That's RIGHT! I remember most of those!

The Flying M used to be the series final. I think I still have a T-shirt from Shredtopia, I loved that course. I think I remember a teammate getting the "best crash" trophy at Santiam Pedalfest one year. Klamath Heat was my first win when I was a Junior kidlet. And the Dustslinger, well, that was the day I tried to hang on Steve Larsen's wheel up the first hill. Did not go well, I really paid for that.

These were all great events!

There ARE still some XC races this summer. Pickett's Charge, Return on the Jedi, and The State Games XC all happen after June 1st.

To everyone on the Obranet, I beg of you, all of us, to go out this
summer and hit as many of the existing summer races as possible. We can all be pretty fit by then. Let's
support the events that happen in the weather that we actually enjoy!

C'mon . . . it'll be fun!
