Child Care & Racing

Hello Folks with Children (others will be bored) -

Being a phenomenal father, partner, employee and mediocre bike racer is a challenge, but a nice one in comparison to world events. If you race bikes and have two or more kids you're my idol! Training, let alone racing, takes creative planning. Our relatives live in the frozen tundra of the midwest; dumping kids off with them is an expensive option.

I am hoping to find a obralander that is interested in swapping child care duties at races this season. My wife has watched enough bike racing to last a lifetime! I have a 3 month old son and a 3 year old daughter. The plan would be to bring ONE kid to a race, a short race! My racing goals for the year revolve around crits, short track and cx. Ideally, the swapper would have a child about the same age as mine and not be in the same category (I race Cat 3, Master's 35+, Semi-pro mtb, Cat A). A situation that would allow for warming up would be a bonus but warming up is overrated.

If this crazy idea sounds interesting, AND your NOT a pervert or child predator, send me an email off list. We can discuss details and begin to arrange play dates to get to know one another. I am a faculty member at Linfield College and currently live in McMinnville. I'll be moving to W Salem by the end of the summer.

Regards..Jeff McNamee
