Dorel buys Cannondale. Oh noes?

The word is that there will be two separate divisions - Cannondale
Sports Group will be the premium division.

"The Cannondale Sports Group, which will target the independent bicycle
dealer and be separate from the mass-market line, will include
Cannondale, Sugoi, GT and the company’s other premium bicycle brands,
presumably Schwinn and Mongoose. Cannondale Sports has already stated
that it plans to seek acquisitions of similar high-quality brands."

believe the best thing they produced was the Lefty. But hey, I have not
owned a Cannondale for about two years and survived just fine. They
probably will produce a bunch of low end stuff and sell them in the very
places you suspect (Kmart etc) but still make some pretty good bikes.

True story

There use to be a history of Schwinn calendar about 5 years ago and on the
time line in 1984 it said " Thought Mountain Bikes would be a fad OOOPS!"

You're absolutely right, Jay. After just a couple of seconds' soul
searching I've realized that it was my criticisms that sent the company
into a spiraling depression.

As for those CO2 emissions? I do suppose I should cut back on the
bean-n-cheese super fatty burritos.

*parp*

Share and enjoy.

I suppose that this doesn't necessarily mean doom, but when the parent
company of "brands" such as Pacific (dept. store clunkers), Schwinn and
GT (oh, how the mighty hath fallen) buys up a company like Cannondale...
it give me pause. Hopefully I'm not hearing the splashing of
Cannondale's shark jumping.

As much as I've grumped about the Headshok lately, I really do like my
Cannondales (I have three) and would hate to see the company neutered
and turned into a ghost of itself similar to the fate the befell Schwinn
and GT.
