I'm thinking of starting a wooden bicycle wheel company - just consider
the advantages:
- organic
- recyclable
- non-toxic
- non-petroleum
- high carbon content
- domestically producible
- retro styling
- can be burned for heat in emergencies
On top of all that they're safer since there's no need for those
fragile spokes that can fail and cause a crash.
I think I'll get a law passed that makes people buy them! It's for
their own safety of course!
:-D

I don't use tire's or tubes at all any more...too much rotational
weight. I have also found that a bare rim on pavement has quite low
rolling resistance, though traction may suffer. Best of all - no more
wasting money on tires and tubes. The only expense is replacing the rim
when you wear down to the spoke nipples, but you'll easily get several
thousand miles out of 'em before this happens.
Hope this settles things. Cheers!
