WashCo BTA members,
Washington County has planned a series of open houses to present what is
supposed to be an update of the 1988 Transportation Plan. There is one
tomorrow night, September 20th in the auditorium of the Public Services
Building,155 SW 1st St. in Hillsboro, directly across the Max turn around.
Monday, September 24th at Sunset Presbyterian Church 14986 NW Cornell @ Hwy
26 is another one. Each open house begins at 4 and continues until 8 PM.
The usual format is for the county to use a large room, set up tables with
various displays on them and answer questions of citizens. About an hour or
so into the open house, they'll give a sit down presentation. Folks then
resume their roaming around and talking amongst each other and with staff or
committee representatives.
As a member of the Transportation Plan Update Citizen Advisory Committee, I
am asking you to attend this Open House. It is designed to "provide
opportunities to learn about the results of the transportation needs
analysis and to examine proposed system alternatives." (emphasis mine)
Bicycling continues to get short shrift from staff in Washington County and
I need your support to change that. Your attendance may help us all gain
new perspectives on the problem and perhaps you can offer solutions or spur
us into action.
Thank you in advance.
Hal Ballard, Chair
Washco BTA
