I think it is time to let some people know that it is not appropriate to

blast people and send it to the entire OBRA list. If you are going to send

out emails that are negative, send it to the person that you are being

negative to. I am tired of reading OBRA emails that are sometimes

derogatory and personal in nature. The people that send out things are

sometimes controversial in nature but they are not looking to be ridiculed

for it and therefore should not be. There's my two cents....

This particular report is pretty stupid, I'll agree. However, I've read

other things recently that talk about some of these prescription dugs,

and their use in sports. In some cases, they have been prescribed for a

medical problem, but they've been used in a way (inconsistent with the

prescription) that ammounts to using them as performance enhancing

drugs. I'd call those uses "failed" drug tests, even if they have a

prescription. You can't really check on how these drugs are being used

though, so it's rather a tricky problem.

 PARIS (AP) -- Though more than one-third of this year's Tour de France

riders failed drug tests, all but one cyclist had medical reasons to use the

substances.

The government said 44 of the 128 riders tested positive. The findings were

published Monday by the Council to Prevent and Fight Doping.

One case involved EPO, a banned performance-enhancer. The other riders will

be asked to show they had approval. If they cannot provide medical documents

to the drug council or the French Cycling Federation, they could be banned

from competing in France.

No names of riders were disclosed. Four French teams and all 13 foreign

teams, including Lance Armstrong's U.S. Postal Service squad, had riders who

tested positive.

U.S. Postal director of operations Dan Osipow told The Associated Press he

had "no idea" about the report's results and said he didn't know if any

riders on the team used cortisone.

Spanish rider Txema Del Olmo was dropped from the race by his team after

testing positive.

During the tour, some riders were tested more than once. Fifty tests showed

use of corticosteroids. The substances are not banned but are subject to

restrictions and require a prescription.

Twelve tests showed use of salbutamol, a mild drug used to treat asthma. It

is banned unless administered with an inhaler.
