>The Earth Day Ride and Rally Sunday April 20thstarting and finishing at the Native American Student and Community Center on the corner of Broadway and Jackson is an event for everyone. Presented by Student Body President, Rudy Soto, this event is leadership by example as we give thanks to our Mother Earth. Bicycling is just the right kind of activity for saving the planet, and a 25 mile, slow, family ride around inner city Portland, begins at half past noon. Leadership and stewardship go hand in hand, and at NOON a verbal Rally of leaders like Sam Adams, and Dan Saltzman from the City of Portland, and Sheila Pete and President Soto from the PSU Student Body are just some of the speakers who are going to say their two cents about what time it is in America today. Before the words of encouragement, folks can stop in for Pancakes presented by Bob's Red Mill around 10:30AM and listen to the hippy stylings of PSU's earth band Mother. Then at 2:00Pm, upon return from the 25 mile family ride, folks get to check out Jazz great Alan Jones. This monster Jazz drummer has made albums with Leroy Vineger and starred in the Jazz festival at Montrose. All proceeds benefit Bicycles and Ideas for Kid's Empowerment. See attached, or visit www.kidsofbike.org Admission is $25 or $2.50 with Student ID. No one will be turned away, so folks who don't have money should talk to Paris the ride director or me.
