Mt. Hood Cycling Classic
Dear OBRA members,
I wanted to make sure and let you know of some very important updates. First I regret to inform all of you that we have met our field limit of 125 riders for the CAT 2/3 men's field. We will be posting a waiting list at Sports Base Online under registration if you would like you can put your name on it and we will draw from the list on a first come first serve basis. Our Pro men's fields and women's fields are going to be huge as well this year and make for some exciting racing. Masters men you need to pick it up. We currently do not have enough signed up to run a field. We need to see numbers from you to ensure we can continue to afford to keep this category going at the Mt. Hood Cycling Classic. Especially if you are a 45+ rider as we have taken the time effort and resources to have a fully separate scored race for you complete with your own prize list as well. Sign up today!
Lodging is just about gone. I believe there is one room left at Cooper Spur and 2 left at Best Western as of now. Comfort Inn in The Dalles has come on board as a lodging sponsor this year and we will be posting nightly results and have discounted room rates at that location. They have a limited number of rooms as well so call right away if you are planning to attend. They can be reached at 541-298-2800. Be sure and tell them you are part of the race to get rooms and discounts.
Many of you are wondering about the snow pack and how it effects the infamous Stage 5 Wy'East road race. We are working hard to make this course happen even working on contracting plowing of the roads. If for some reason it continues to snow up there until July we will have an alternate course lined up that is equally hard. But for now we are still committed to run that stage.
Finally if you are not up for a monster race then consider coming out and volunteering. We are still needing a number of volunteers for this year's event especially for the Portland stages. We are looking for caravan drivers, moto marshals, flaggers, setup/teardown crews, parking staff etc. Contact Moria at moria@pocards.net if you are interested. You will get cool race swag, shirt, food and an be in the middle of the racing action. I hope to see all of you in May!
Sincerely,
Chad Sperry
