I want to thank from the bottom of my heart the folks who voluteered to

work the medical crew of the Aspenrose cross race. I was the master racer

who went down hard on the first lap and had to catch a ride out in an

ambulance. Ryan, I think was the guy who spent the most time with me and

he confirmed his diagnosis (guess) with a blond woman doctor (name

forgotten) who had a nice young son named Daniel who kept me company while

the ambulance was called. They we great. I'm sure you're all wondering

how it all came out. Drum roll please. It was a broken hip. More

precisely a complete separation at the femoral neck. (Mike Murray, maybe

you could help here) Broke the darn thing off and it had to be reinstalled

with titanium screws. Will I be faster and lighter now?

I sure would have liked to have gotten in more than half a lap of the first

race of the cross season but oh well...

Now I'll have more time to devote to the district championship cross race

down here in Eugene at

King Estate Winery. It's going to be a great course in a European like

setting with wine tasting (after your races only folks, we don't want any

more broken bones) and winery tours for spectators if the racing becomes

overwhelming. I'm bummed that I won't be able to race it but I've ridden a

few laps already so I'll have to be content with that. Anyway, I'll see

you all on December 2nd in Eugene. I hope I won't be the guy still limping.
