What's the problem with the promoter making a profit? Where's the travesty
in that? I'm willing to bet that there are or have been plenty of times he
has not.
He takes the time out of his day, takes care of all tedious details, and is
consistently there to provide us with a quality venue for a good racing
experience.

$15 bucks is steep for me too at times, so I bring cans of food, packaged
food, soup/broths in aseptic containers to ease the cost. The unfortunate
thing is is that racing ends up being an expensive sport, just maintenance
alone adds up. If it ends up that I can't afford PIR one week, I'll just go
ride hard by myself.

Volunteer your time to help at races. There's a few races which will give
you PIR's in exchange for help at the race.

Hell, have you tried talking to the promoter and seeing if you guys could
work something out?

In all honesty I think we get pretty good value for our money from OBRA and
the Races.
