Forward from the BTA:
I'm pleased to announce that Pink Martini has selected the Bicycle Transportation Alliance as a beneficiary of its FundFest 2008, which will take place June 2nd through June 6th, at McMenamins' Crystal Ballroom!
The goal of FundFest 2008 is to raise a total of $80,000, or $20,000 each, for four non-profit organizations doing important work in the community. "Pink Martini is approached every year by dozens of organizations to perform at fundraisers and events, which is difficult because we spend so much of the year on the road," says Pink Martini bandleader Thomas M. Lauderdale. "FundFest -- which is four nights of fun and festive fundraising--is an opportunity for the band to raise money for four different organizations whose work we want to honor and support." In 2006 the inaugural FundFest raised $84,324 and donated $21,081 each to four local nonprofits.

Outside In
Outside In provides comprehensive services to more than 500 youth per year who are experiencing homelessness. Initially, these youth may have emotional walls they have built around themselves to survive. They have survived families that abused and neglected them as well as adults who exploited them once they were on the streets. Outside In focuses on their strengths and builds the confidence that is required for them to be able to leave the streets. Often, we are the first person that has told them "you can."
