The first broken SRAM was a hollowpin- i cant exclude user error when installing it.
the 2nd broken SRAM hollowpin was while commuting. it was put on well because i installed it right after the broken incident during cross. i made sure the chain breaker was straight when i set the length, Maybe my chain tool is too wide for the SRAM chain?
the DA and ultegra chains seem to wear super fast, but the cassette is old. i train and race occaisionally and commute on this cassette and race on a steeper cassette on flat races. my guess is that the cassette is causing the wear. i dont mash too much and i spin in the 25 cog as much as possible while climbing. there isnt any wear visible on the cassette, but it has gone through a year of training and cross and this past winter.
my next test will be a new chain and cassette and i'll measure the chain prior to riding to ensure accuracy on the chain check tool.
