EK Memorial Track Race Thanks You

Thanks again to everyone that either raced or supported the 6th Annual Eric
Kautzky Memorial Track Race this past Sunday at Alpenrose Velodrome. We had
77 racers go after the green jerseys in 11 categories -- a good showing
considering we had to reschedule and then dodge more rainy weather on the
22nd. Because of those of you raced, sponsored, officiated, and
volunteered, we are able to donate $1000 to the Eric Kautzky Scholarship
Fund at Tigard High School. Over the past 6 years we've donated a total of
$10,980.

Many special thanks to the following people who supported our efforts:

- Dave Guettler, River City Bicycles. Dave -- You're one in 311,423,955.
Thanks for EVERYTHING you and River City Bicycles do for cycling in Oregon!

- Doug Duguay, bicyclinghub.com. Thanks Doug for your continuing support
of our event and for especially supporting our juniors and beginning men and
women racers.

- Chris King. Thanks to Rich Whitekettle, Chris King events manager, for
providing us with some great product and supporting Oregon bike racing (not
to mention events where they serve up great pancakes, coffee, and raspberry
compote)!

- Rich Hincapie, Hincapie Sportswear. We love you Rich! Thanks so much
for providing us with the best one-day track racing omnium jerseys anywhere!
Our hats (and jerseys) off to Drew France, Custom Apparel Director, for all
her work and design efforts!

- Alpenrose Dairy. Thanks to Tracey McKinnon, Events Manager, for the
Alpenrose Swiss Style Chocolate Milk half-pints! You remind us of how
fortunate we are to have this unique and distinctive velodrome in Portland's
back yard!

- Officials -- Thanks very much to the hard work and dedication from
Luciano Bailey, Andrea Fisk, and Candi Murray!

- First Aid -- Thanks to Michael Hildbrandt. Glad your day was
uneventful!

- Splinter Wrenn -- Awesome as always. Thanks again for your announcing!

- Team Rose City -- Thanks to our volunteers for their "can-do" attitude:
Gary Brannan, Chris and Jim Kenney, Chris Scheer, Barb and Jim Thiele, Jeff
Buck, Renata Hahn, Pam Reid, and Paul Mautner.

See you next year!

Thanks,

Thanks again for a fantastic turnout and great racing yesterday at the third
annual Eric Kautzky Memorial Track Race. It was amazing to see 84 riders
yesterday across 10 categories (we added Masters Men 50+ literally
on-the-spot while lining up for the Masters 40+ points race), and two Cat 5
groups! This was possibly the largest number of racers ever assembled at
Alpenrose for a one-day mass start racing event! The racing venue was fast
and exciting until Mother Nature decided to slow us down with a few
sprinkles that were followed shortly by a brief shower, which forced us to
end the day early, halfway through the second round of racing. Lorna Kautzky
was on hand to give out the omnium winner jerseys.

After all was raced and done, it looks like we will be sending apprx $1300
to the Eric L. Kautzky Scholarship Fund at Tigard High School. Addtional
jersey sales and raffles will add another estimated $1000 - $1500. Scholarships
are awarded to a graduating senior from Tigard High who is pursuing a future
in either *sports medicine* or *biology* (both subjects Eric taught at
Tigard for over 24 years).

Re: Raffles. Only 2 entrants so far for the LiveStrong hat personally
autographed by Lance Armstrong. Most autographed Lance items go for $80 -
$5000. Most of his autographed hats go for about $80 - $100. We will
continue to collect raffle tickets for this item through Thurs, May 29, and
announce the winner that evening at the Alpenrose Velodrome.

The prize drawing beginning May 3 and ending June 19 at Alpenrose for a
Veloforma F1R frame continues. Proceeds to benefit the Eric Kautzky Memorial
Scholarship Fund at Tigard High School. Enter as often as you wish at Tues
and Thurs track nites thru June 19. $15 per entry. Winner will be announced
on June 19. See www.veloforma.com

Thanks again very much to our OBRA officals (Luciano, Candi, Eric), first
aid support (Kate), Team Rose City volunteers, and to KGW for the great
publicity.
