Are the Eugene TT results out there anywhere?

Gary Malcolm

2008-05-11

OK... I really like all the guys who put on the ETT but I'm not afraid to
use the 'L' word here.

Lame.

Extremely and irretrievably lame.

I can't even imagine the stream of sarcastic abuse you are going to receive
on Tuesday if you have no posted results. On the other hand I have a pretty
good idea of how very, very slow I was so maybe we can wait another week or
maybe just forget it all together?

Now you know why pros are so fast, they get to see their times on the big
board as soon as they cross the finish line!

Kenji thanks for following up with the race promoter on the Eugene TT
results. I hope that there is not a family emergency or something going on
with Ken and or his family?

If not, I hope that race directors realize that some of us do Time Trials to
gauge our fitness and adjust our training plans. Getting the results a week
later is on the lower end of useful.

On the other hand, I offer to help if you need help getting a Macro going in
excel to help process the data.

Lots and lots of last minute on-line registrations are still coming in for
the ChainBreaker. We will be accepting your on-line entry up until 2PM
today.

After 2PM today you can still register, but will need to do it in person
either here at the shop, or at the race course on the morning of the race.

Let us know if you have questions...

Thanks!

As a consequence of racer feedback the Men's Masters 35+ (III, IV,V) is now:
Men's Masters 40-49; 50+ with each age group scored seperately and with no
restriction on racing category. Prime laps have only one winner. The
streets are more than wide enough, and the finishing straight long enough
for a huge, safe sprint.

Also the Men's Pro/I/II and Women's Pro/I/II/III fields each just received
an additional $200 dollars prize money courtesy of Central Willamette Credit
Union, so with a field of 40 riders the total cash payout will be at least
$500.

Hello,
I sincerely apologize for any ill feelings or disrespect I may have
caused, it certainly was not my intention. With that being said I would
like to address a couple of things since there seems to be a lot of
assumptions(mostly on my part)about the frameset I recently became owner of.

1) I could not attend the event/fund raiser held May 1st.
2) I purchased my raffle tickets online via PayPal.

When I was notified I had won the Veloforma frameset I assumed it was
just a "regular" frameset and not something special for the event. Even
when I received emails from James Lingwood and Mark Duff they didn't
mention anything about the "special" frame. Mark had even said I won
the F1R and needed to pick a size for myself or a friend, it was mine to
do whatever I wanted. So they assumed I known what I had won.

I, again, assumed since this was a race frame and I am not a racer, I
should sell it and use the proceeds to purchase a bike to my riding
style, a nice touring bike. So that was where the OBRA post originated
from, I figured someone on this list would be interested. I set the
price at 2400 since the msrp was 2500 but also said I would take
reasonable offers. Sure I would have taken less but wanted to start
high. I would not pick a size and let the purchaser pick one, that gave
me a larger customer base, if you will.

I did feel awkward for putting something up for sale that I had won and
even send Mark and email stating so, but hey, if someone really wanted
the frame they should have it more than I. So last night I emailed
Mark(again) stating I had changed my mind and I would take the Large,
just let me know when I could pick it up.

Then later that night I see the email from Mr. Provencher...wow...talk
about a blow to the gut. I had no idea about the "special" frame.
Ignorance...it is such bad form, that is the part I feel sick about.
To be labeled as a person trying to receive a "significant gain" and
"lining my pockets" really did not help and were just as bad as the
assumptions I had made.

So that's my story.
Hopefully it helped explain my actions and we all know they needed
explaining.

Again, I am sorry.

Hello,

I have a completely stock 2006 Allez Comp in a 56 cm frame for sale. This
bike has been meticulously cared for and barely has a scratch on it. I am
looking at some other bikes and just need to liquidate this one. I'll take

3 - 48 tooth Sugino chain ring

4 - 7-spd (12-21) Regina Extra freewheel (perfect for that retro bike

5 - Two(2) 8-spd (12-23) Ultegra Hyperglide cassettes.

6 - One paair of Shimano 600 (Ultegra) brake calipers

7 - One pair of Look Carbon Pro pedals

Hey all,

I'm interested in riding up to Alpenrose Saturday morning with some friends
fromPSU Cycling to help paint.

The webpage [1] for the event said it is 'weather permitting', and to check
the mailing list for info but I haven't seen any about it - I'm curious if
the event is still on?

thanks!

Since I started this string I feel compelled to conclude it. As Shakespeare
said, "All's well that ends well." Perhaps the lesson learned here is how do
we judge the perceived gap between actions vs intention. What initially
spurred me to send my first message was the statement of actions with little
or no informatoin about intent, which led me and others to fill in the
intentions. This terrible situation of losing a fellow cyclist often has a
deeply embedded emotional layer to it, which I have felt in a similar
tragedy in losing my friend Eric Kautzky. These emotions are also felt by
Brett's friends, as I witnessed from personal conversations and emails sent
to me over the last two days.

So I sent out my message, without first verifying the intentions of Mr.
Rutter. Perhaps next time I should send an offline message first to
understand the context and intention. Several of us let our emotions
outweigh other possible intentions. I beleve Mr. Rutter's response today was
sincere and genuine, and included some valuable self-insights.

And I think Corey Stayton's email is on target when he said, "It is about
the Brett Jarolimek Fund and the meaning behind it is a powerful one shaped
by all of the people who contributed to the fund that night or at anytime
and care about the big picture of cycling in Portland."

I'll write my check to Brett's Fund tonite, and I hope that in a small way
it will contribute to the cycling community, while helping me continue to
heal as well.

Craig,
As someone that has just been racing since Fall of 2004 and
touring/commuting since 1969...not to worry about wanting a bike that fits
your needs. I commend you for supporting the Brett fund by purchasing a
ticket. Mark Duff summed up our trip here on earth pretty darn well. You
have done nothing wrong and neither did Darell. What can happen with us
humans (and emails seem to heighten this tendency at times) is we can be
misunderstood or misinterpreted. This is what I believe happened. You are
going to be getting a beautiful bike. Thank you for supporting the fund.
Thank Darell for supporting the fund and thanks to Mark and Veloforma for
supporting the fund. I just wish I could learn to not "assume things".
Being married has helped me get better at this, but it sure is an easy
mindset to fall into.
take care,
ron

Sorry Craig,

I apologize for jumping to conclusions. My main goal was to refocus the
energy back to contributing to the fund.

Thank you for contributing. From what I heard and saw, the fund raising
event was quite successful.
