Eric Chu
for any bike shop or cycling club in the Bend area that has ever
considered participating in the county Adopt-a-Road program...
there are some pretty good stretches of road available right now
along some of our popular bike routes...great visibility and free
advertising!
Alfalfa Market Road( from milepost 4 to milepost 6.140)
Buck Dr. (from Johnson market to the end (just past Stag)
Cascade Lakes Hwy (from Todd Lake Rd. to Goose Creek crossing)
Innes Market Road (from Dusty Loop to Gerking Market Rd)
great community exposure for local bike shops, cycling clubs and/or
teams.
I believe the commitment is for three years, and you only have to do
a clean-up twice a year.
I think Hutch's is the only shop right now that is part of the
program....I showed up for their spring clean-up a couple of weeks
ago. It was a good chance to catch up and socialize as well as build
goodwill with passing cyclists and motorists. The side of the road
gets a lot more attractive in the process. With I think about 10
people, it only took us an hour to clean up the stretch of road on
O.B. Riley. (Thanks, Rick Johnson for getting us all involved!)
