I'm in the market for a touring/cyclocross frame. So I am looking for suggestions. The bike would be used primarily for commuting, some loaded touring, and a few cross crusade races.

I'd like to stay away from the cheap Taiwanese imports. The ultimate dream bike for this purpose would be a Co Motion Nor'wester but I don't want to sell half of the bikes I already own in order to afford one. Something in the $1000.00 range (for the frame and fork) would be affordable. A great second choice is the Gunnar Crosshairs, but unfortunately the top tubes on them are way too long.

So, my window is very small as you can see, that is why I am throwing up this hail-mary pass to see if there is some other option.

Any ideas? Anyone have something used that would fit the bill? 53.5 +/- cm top tube :)
